Our Mission

The Cory Calcagni Student Athlete Financial Endowment (CC SAFE)

aims to support student athletes of any age

who may not otherwise be able to compete due to financial constraints.

We believe that every athlete deserves the opportunity

to pursue their passion and realize their true potential

without the impediment of financial barriers.

Our Story

Our namesake, Cory Calcagni

Cory was a three sport athlete, playing baseball, football and basketball. He was talented, bright, kind, funny, and loved his family. Cory tragically lost his life in 2018, before his dreams could become reality.

During their most difficult hours, Cory's family made the loving and selfless decision to give the Gift Of Life to others, determined that their greatest loss would become the greatest gift to others in need.

Cory's Legacy

Cory's family was able to change, improve and even save the lives of 5 people through organ and tissue donation. One of those people whose life was saved is the Director and Co-Founder of CC SAFE, Jonathan Ford. Jonathan had been admitted to the ICU, confined to bed for weeks; his heart was failing due to the sudden effects of a hereditary genetic disorder, hATTR Amyloidosis. Jonathan received the Gift Of Life, a heart transplant, from the Calcagni family's act of love. A former athlete and an athletic coach for decades, Jonathan vowed to honor Cory's life, his love of sports, his kind spirit, and his memory. To that end, The Cory Calcagni Student Athlete Financial Endowment was born.

CC SAFE is a federally designated 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and is recognized by the State of Tennessee as a charitable organization in good standing. We are 100% volunteer operated and are funded solely through the generosity of donors and fundraising events, with 100% of all donations spent in support of student athletes.

In Need Of Financial Assistance For Athletics?

CC SAFE is a 100% donation funded, 100% volunteer operated

501(C)(3) non-profit charitable organization.

At this time CC SAFE will offer up to four "Cory Cares" awards annually.

A Cory Cares Award is one full season of athletic expense support.

We are a relatively new organization; while we plan to expand our ability to help,

we know it will take time to grow.

In addition to the "Cory Cares" awards

we may also fulfill smaller requests for support needs, as funding allows.
